10 Ways to Get Rid of Annoying Pimples in Your Ear, It Only Takes a Remedy and a Day

There are at about 50 million people in the US that develop acne at any given time and it is the most common skin condition in the world. Pimples form in areas where there are skin cells present, hair cells present (follicles), and oil-producing glands. These 3 components are perfect for acne. The inner ear, just like the outer ear, is a very common area where people can develop pimples.

Thankfully, there are many ways to treat pimples at home both naturally and medicinally without the guidance of a doctor. We at Smiles Tv researched the best homemade remedies to treat ear pimples at home.

What causes pimples?

Pimples usually appear when your pores become clogged with sebum (the natural oil that protects the outer part of the skin and keeps it hydrated) and dead skin cells; or even bacteria and dirt that were introduced to the inner ear. There are many factors that can cause an ear pimple and sometimes it’s hard to pinpoint.

Here is a list of possible factors that can cause pimples:

  • Dusty or dirty environment.
  • Ear glands producing excess oil.
  • Dirty earbuds.
  • Sharing the same earbuds with other people.
  • Putting your fingers inside your ear.
  • Swimming in dirty or unclean water.
  • Increased levels of stress.
  • Hormonal changes, especially in teenagers.
  • Ear piercings that are left unclean and become infected.
  • Wearing a helmet or a hat for a long period of time.
  • Allergic reactions to products that might enter the inner ear.

1. Rubbing alcohol

Rubbing alcohol, or otherwise known as isopropyl alcohol, is one of the best homemade remedies to treat ear pimples. It is the world’s most common antiseptic treatment as it dissolves bacteria in the DNA of the human skin cells. When it is applied to the affected area, it kills skin cells on the surface of open pores which can cause them to become clogged. It also helps to sterilize the area and keep a pimple from becoming infected.

How to use:

  • Apply a small amount on a cotton pad;
  • Wipe the affected area with it using circular motions for a few minutes;
  • Repeat twice daily.

2. Benzoyl Peroxide

Benzoyl peroxide is considered to be the most effective medicinal treatment for pimples. Benzoyl peroxide irritates the bacteria responsible for acne and restricts them from getting the nutrients they need to reproduce.

The lifespan of bacteria is approximately 48 hours, so you will be able to get rid of them very quickly. Even though benzoyl peroxide mainly treats pimples, the slow release of the chemical in the affected area can also treat whiteheads and blackheads.

How to use:

  • Add the Benzoyl peroxide to a cotton pad;
  • Apply to the affected area for a couple of minutes;
  • Repeat twice daily if necessary.

3. Oil-free cleanser

Oil-free cleansers are specifically designed to get rid of acne and prevent it from reoccurring in the future. One of the main ingredients in oil-free cleansers is salicylic acid which helps exfoliate the skin and get rid of dead skin cells and unclog pores. It also has the ability to remove unhealthy skin cells in order to make room for the growth of new ones.

How to use:

  • Wash the affected area with warm water;
  • Using a circular motion, apply the cleanser to the affected area;
  • For inner ear pimples, apply warm water on a Q-tip and a very tiny amount of oil-free cleanser and apply to the affected area;
  • Do NOT insert it into your ear canal — just wipe the outside of the ear.

4. Hydrogen peroxide

When Hydrogen peroxide is applied to the skin, it loses the extra oxygen atoms it contains. This process (oxidization) generates an inhabitable environment for the bacteria in the inner ear which then causes them all to die. Furthermore, it works as a peeling medium because it exfoliates the skin and helps in the reproduction of newer and healthier skin. In addition to that, it prevents pimples from reappearing by drying out the oils present in the skin.

How to use:

  • Dip a cotton ball in Hydrogen peroxide;
  • Apply to the affected area using circular motions;
  • Repeat once every day until you start seeing results.

5. Hot compress

A hot compress can help get rid of pimples by opening up the pores and cleaning the skin from dirt and excess oil production that may be causing acne in your ear. Hot compresses help reduce inflammation and improve blood circulation once they are applied to the affected area. A hot compress is the best remedy to speed up the natural popping of a pimple.

How to use:

  • First, wipe the area with alcohol;
  • Soak a washcloth in hot water and then squeeze it to get rid of the excess liquid;
  • Fold it and then apply it to the affected area;
  • Leave for 15 to 20 minutes;
  • Repeat twice daily.

6. Green tea compress

Green tea works wonders when it comes to healthy skin. Whether you drink it or apply it to your skin, it doesn’t take long to see the benefits. Green tea is packed with polyphenols which have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that are very helpful for acne-prone skin and can be used as a remedy to get rid of pimples.

How to use:

  • Steep a tea bag in hot water for a couple of minutes;
  • Squeeze out the excess water and allow it to cool;
  • Apply to the affected area;
  • Let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes;
  • Repeat twice every day.

7. Apply warm milk

Milk is one of the best things to incorporate into your skincare routine if you experience acne on a regular basis. It is rich in Vitamin B, alpha hydroxy acids, antioxidants, and calcium. It has the ability to nourish skin cells and deeply moisturize the skin. In addition, milk can draw out the excess sebum from within the pores and tighten enlarged pores. Due to the fact that it contains lactic acid, it can fight off microbes and bacteria that cause acne.

How to use:

  • Warm up some milk in the microwave for one minute;
  • Take a cotton ball and let it soak in milk for one minute;
  • Take it out and squeeze the excess liquid;
  • Apply to the affected area for 10 minutes;
  • Then, wash the affected area with lukewarm water.

8. Tea tree oil

Tea tree oil contains a lot of natural anti-bacterial compounds that can help eliminate acne and get rid of pimples. It has the ability to reduce redness caused by acne, inflammation, and swelling. In addition, it can improve the overall appearance of the skin by reducing the appearance of scars while still keeping the skin hydrated and glowy.

How to use:

  • Wash the affected area with lukewarm water;
  • Apply the tea tree oil to a cotton swab;
  • Massage the affected area for 2-3 minutes;
  • Do NOT wash it off — leave it on overnight;
  • Repeat every day if necessary.

9. Aloe vera gel

Aloe vera has taken over the skincare world with all the benefits it provides. It has a lot of antibacterial compounds and it is a proven way to reduce pimples and redness associated with them. In addition, it prevents bacteria from entering acne wounds and infecting it and it also speeds up the healing process of pimples.

The astringent compounds in aloe vera help remove excess oil and dirt from the skin, thus preventing acne breakouts. It also reduces the size of enlarged pores while helping the skin look glowy and radiant.

How to use:

  • Clean the affected area with lukewarm water;
  • Apply Aloe vera gel to the affected area and let it sit for 20 minutes;
  • Repeat twice daily.

10. Apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar has a lot of antiseptic compounds that can kill existing bacteria in the ear, get rid of dirt that might be causing you to get pimples, and balance the oil production of your skin to avoid getting more pimples. It can also kill bacteria and prevent you from getting an infection. Furthermore, apple cider vinegar can shrink enlarged pores, thus preventing dirt from entering and bacteria from developing in that area.

How to use:

  • Clean the affected area with warm water in order to help open up your pores;
  • Soak a cotton ball in apple cider vinegar and apply it to the affected area for 5 to 10 minutes;
  • Rinse right after and repeat 3 times a day.

How to prevent pimples from reappearing:

There are many ways to prevent pimples from re-appearing, especially in the ear region where it can be extremely painful and uncomfortable.

  • Clean hands: Wash your hands often and avoid touching your ear. Sometimes, by not washing your hands, you can transfer bacteria to the surface of the skin and clog your pores.
  • Clean ears: Make sure you clean the inside of your ears and behind your ears every day. Sometimes shampoos and hair products can enter your ears and cause pimples. Use some soap with lukewarm water to clean your ears after your shower and apply anything to your hair. When you get out of the shower, your pores are slightly more opened, so wiping them and cleaning them will prevent breakouts and blackheads.
  • Clean phone: Our phones contain more bacteria than a public toilet. So when we place it on our ears, they could be transferred and can cause pimples. The best thing to do is to wipe down your phone using anti-bacterial wipes or rubbing alcohol as often as you use your phone.
  • Clean earbuds: Earbuds go into our ears and they can be packed with earwax, oil, and dirt — the perfect combination for pimples to appear. Just like your phone, use anti-bacterial wipes or rubbing alcohol to clean your earbuds both before and after you use them.
